This page explains how K-Munhwa is researched, written, funded, and corrected. It is here so you can judge how much weight to give anything you read on this site.
How posts are researched
Most posts start from Korean-language sources — Korean news outlets, official agency statements, broadcaster releases, government and industry data, and Korean community discussion. English coverage is used as a cross-check, not as the origin.
Claims about facts — dates, numbers, chart positions, quotes, legal or policy details — are linked to the source that supports them. If a claim cannot be sourced, it is either labelled as opinion or cut.
Opinion versus reporting
Cultural writing is not neutral, and pretending otherwise is dishonest. Where a post makes an argument — that a trend is overstated, that a translation loses something, that an industry practice is a problem — it is written as an argument, in the first person, and you are free to disagree.
Use of AI tools
AI tools are used in producing this site, mainly for drafting, translation checks, and generating original illustrations. Every post is reviewed by a human before it is published, and the editorial judgment — what is worth writing about, what is true, what is fair — is human.
What is not done here: publishing text that has not been read by a person, passing off machine-generated claims as sourced reporting, or scraping and rewording other people's articles.
Images
Illustrations on this site are original or properly licensed. Where a photograph belongs to someone else, it is credited and used within fair-use limits for commentary and criticism. If you own an image here and want it removed or credited differently, use the contact form and it will be handled quickly.
Corrections
Errors get fixed in the post itself, with a dated correction note at the bottom. Posts are not silently rewritten to hide a mistake. If a correction changes the conclusion of a piece, that is stated at the top.
How this site makes money
K-Munhwa is supported by advertising. Ads are served by third-party networks and are labelled as advertising. Advertisers have no input into what is written here and no advance access to posts.
If a post ever contains an affiliate link or is sponsored, it will say so at the top of that post, before the content. No exceptions.
What is not accepted
Paid placements disguised as editorial, guest posts written to plant links, and “please cover our artist” arrangements are declined. Press releases and agency announcements are treated as sources to be checked, not as content to be republished.
